Editorial Standards
How we report, label sponsored content, and correct the record.
Editorial Standards
The Ridge Report is trade news for roofing pros. These are the rules we run on.
Independence
We separate three things clearly:
- News & analysis — reported coverage. No pay-to-play.
- Spotlights — monthly Product Spotlight and Contractor Spotlight are editorial picks, not paid ads, unless explicitly labeled sponsored.
- Sponsored content — always labeled. If money changed hands for placement, you will see it.
Sources & reporting ethos
We prioritize recent, verifiable developments — typically the last two years — that actually move shops: materials and pricing, labor and crews, weather and storm markets, codes and insurance, manufacturer moves, and the business of running a roofing company. We prefer primary sources, named attribution when possible, and practical framing over hype.
Spotlights are not ads
Applying for a spotlight does not guarantee a feature. Selection is editorial. Paid advertising lives on the Media Kit path and is labeled when published.
No homeowner lead-gen framing
We do not run as a homeowner brochure or lead-gen trap. Coverage is for contractors, crews, suppliers, and manufacturers.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it. Send the URL, the error, and the correction via our Contact & Tip Line. Significant corrections are noted on the article when warranted.
